Start with a Plan

  1. Every successful project begins with a plan and every plan requires resources. Write down what you want to accomplish in your home or room, determine how much you can or want to spend and assess the amount of time you have to get it all done.

  2. Next, you'll want to gather materials and samples of what you envision. You can place clippings from magazines in a folder or create a "dream" board (one for each room) by pasting the clippings onto a large bristol board. Don't rush this process. Eliminate stuff that doesn't fit the overall harmony of your room or would exceed your budget.

  3. Remember the three rules of a successful room: Functionality, Mood and Harmony.

Training and Tasks

  1. If you are new to design and haven't studied colours, shapes and spaces, do a little reading to familiarize youself with how colour effects mood and wall decor creates or eliminates space.

  2. With your plan in hand and some knowledge you ready for the fun part...scheduling your tasks and beginning the shopping/purchasing process.

  3. Remember to consider the mood and harmony you're after when picking art and wall decor items. Ask our designers for advice if you get stuck.

Last but not least, celebrate your success!
